Local Music Solicitation
106-1 The Corner is a different kind of radio station. One major difference is that we actually support and play local and regional bands from Charlottesville, Albemarle County, and Central Virginia. We don't "bury" local music when no one is listening but rather proudly feature local acts right next to the rest of the playlist.
We have a nightly feature called Live and Local. Every night at 8pm, we give you a run down of some local concerts and play music by local or independent artists. We also feature certain local music in regular playlist rotation, or when a local band has a big show or a CD release concert. Keep tuned for "Live and Local Weekends" where we play 3-5 local band songs per hour, usually about once every six to eight weeks.
If you represent a local band (or if your significant other is a band member and you're the P.R. person), please submit their CD's and press kit for airplay consideration!
Mail the CD's to 106-1 The Corner, Attn: Local Music Department, 1140 Rose Hill Drive, C-Ville, VA 22903. Or drop the CD's by our studios during regular business hours (8am to 5pm Monday through Friday). 106-1 The Corner will review local music for production quality, lyrical content (no swearing, please), and of course if it is something we like that will fit the sound of our station.
Live and Local is made possible each night with support from PMD Recording Studios. Local bands, click to learn about their $375 three song demo recording package.
